Finding a job
The Monumental Task of Transforming a Life (or Just Finding a Job)
Finding a job for a felon is a monumental project. One bright and talented young man, before working in the CIM store, sent out 1,000 resumes and received that many rejections. There are very few companies or employers who will even consider for a moment hiring someone with a record. Most interviewers, when they see the felony box on the application checked, automatically toss it into the basket. The few companies who are dedicated to support and help ex-offenders usually don’t want that fact to be publicized. There is a higher risk factor involved, to be sure, which is an advantage of being in a structured program. Then employers have the security of a successful program to have confidence in and lean on. So having job training available immediately is tremendously advantageous for the hopeful ex-offender.
Little wonder the recidivism rate is so high when the ex-offender has to suddenly, on the day of release, provide all these needs for themselves all at one time. There are many gifted and talented men and women returning from incarceration who have a lot to offer society, if they are only given a chance. Christian Inn considers it an honor to provide this much-needed service and be a part of God salvaging and changing lives for the Kingdom.
